So today was a free day in Pai! We didn't have anything solidly scheduled, just a plan to see a temple at some point. So we had a lovely breakfast and then headed to the Pai market to stroll around for the morning. Morgan and I hung out and just walked around....got lost just a little! We had some amazing iced coffee (seriously, it's so good in Thailand!) and then pedicures because they were $7 so why not?!!! (I smudged my big toe almost immediately because that's how I roll...but for $7 I can fix it later I guess!).
Morning juice with flowers in it! :)
Best iced coffee in the world (I think I can say that since I've had iced coffee on two sides of the world now!)
After our morning excursions we had some downtime at the hotel. Morgan and I got pretty board so we went for a walk. Then Morgan got restless and wanted to run so I went for another walk while she went for a short jog. I didn't bring any running shoes because I haven't been running a lot/at all lately and didn't want the extra stuff to pack, but I regret that decision now. It was really crazy hot, but I would've loved to run with her today. The scenery is just too nice to pass up. But I did enjoy my quiet walk. I passed lots of locals who all greeted me with a smile!
Around 5:30 we headed out to see one of the temples. We hiked up a very long set of stairs to see a new Buddha statue that was placed before we got to watch a beautiful sunset over the mountains! I don't think I've enjoyed a sunset that much since I was in high school and saw a bright red one in the car on our way to Bloomfield with my dad! Definitely a moment to remember!
The stairs to Buddha, I couldn't even get all of them in the picture because they loop around.
Pok told us that soon the people will come to cover the Buddha in plaster and gold leaf. Can't wait to see that. ...too bad it will have to be online!
the view was too good not to have someone snap a pic for me!
Could not believe that someone wore heels up all those steps!
The sunset view we got to see!
After our temple hike we grabbed some dinner and headed back to the market to enjoy ourselves for the evening! Had a cool mojito (or 2) and then headed back to the hotel! Tomorrow....off to Chiang Mai to get ready for class!
My dinner was fried rice with shrimp in coconut....chunks if warm coconut inside too.... soooo good!!!!
